Frequently asked questions
My sensor isn't being discovered. What should I check?
Make sure your iPhone and the sensor are on the same Wi-Fi network (not guest). Sensors use mDNS (Bonjour) for discovery — some routers block this. Try toggling Wi-Fi off and on, or restarting the sensor. Also check that Verde has Local Network permission in iOS Settings → Verde.
Does Verde work when I'm away from home?
Scheduled watering works via Apple HomeKit — as long as you have a HomeKit home hub (HomePod, Apple TV, or iPad) at home, valves will trigger on schedule even remotely. Direct sensor reading requires local network access.
The rain skip feature isn't working.
Check your weather source in Settings. Open-Meteo requires an internet connection. WeatherKit requires an active Apple ID with iCloud. Also confirm your location coordinates are set correctly in the app.
How do I update my sensor's firmware?
Tap your sensor in the device list, scroll to "Firmware Update", and follow the prompts. Your iPhone and sensor must be on the same Wi-Fi network for OTA updates.
My schedules aren't syncing to another iPhone.
Verde uses iCloud Key-Value sync. Make sure both devices are signed into the same iCloud account and iCloud Drive is enabled. Sync can take a few minutes.
Can I use Verde without HomeKit?
Yes. You can control valves directly over your local network without pairing to Apple Home. HomeKit is optional and only needed for remote access, Siri, and home automations.
